Racef Tower
Racef Tower

Atalaya Racef or Torre Racef (Racef Tower) is a 24m high construction of Andalusian style built between the ninth and X.

This tower was built for the surveillance of the customs of trade between the different kingdoms. In this way, a security control was made for all merchants who took goods to the city of Valencia or to the Arab kingdoms of the south.

The word Al-Mazaf (currently the word has evolved to Almussafes that gives name to the town) means customs , as it served as a gateway to the different kingdoms, whether Christian or Arab kingdom.

Currently, this tower is located in a garden area and is the symbol of Almussafes. It is possible to visit it for free.
